THIS IS A DRAFT DOCUMENT WHICH IS STILL UNDER DEVELOPMENT
Obtain a Digital ID if you don’t already have one!
Decide how you will connect, will it be via a Repeater, Hotspot or Openspot?
If you are going to connect via a Repeater, you will need to know details such as the frequencies it uses, what static Talkgroups are in place and the Time Slots and Colour Codes for any Talk Groups, before you can start. It may be best to contact the Repeater Manager to confirm the settings.
The details of how to configure an Openspot for DMR use can be found here.
If you are using a Hotspot to connect, you will have to establish what frequency it uses and configure the DMR settings in the Hotspot for the network you are going to use, such as Brandmeister. If using Brandmeister, you will also require a password for the Brandmeister network which you can get by signing up for Brandmeister Self Care on line and setting a password. You will also need your Digital ID for your Hotspot and for the Brandmeister account.
Decide which network you want to use: Brandmeister, DMR Marc, DV Phoenix, etc.
ALWAYS READ DATA FROM YOUR RADIO AND SAVE IT TO YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE MAKING CHANGES TO YOUR CODE PLUG.
I would suggest creating four basic Channels to get started. (I used Brandmeister UK settings for below.)
Create the following Talk Groups in your CPS:
Parrot (234997, Private)
Disconnect (4000, Group Call)
Local (Talk Group 9, Group Call)
HUBNET UK (23526, Group Call)
Create the following Channels in your CPS:
Name the Channel Parrot, set the TX and RX of (Repeater, Hotspot or Openspot), Digital Mode, Time Slot (must match Repeater, Hotspot or Openspot setting), do the same with Colour Code, connect it to Talk Group Parrot, and save the Channel.
Repeat for the Disconnect, Local and HUBNET
You can create a new Zone, or just use the existing Zone 1. Add your four Channels from Step 2 into the Zone.
Save the Code Plug and Write it to your radio.
Once your radio has rebooted you should now be able to select the HUBNET UK Channel in Zone 1 on your radio and by pressing the PTT for approximately 2 seconds, you will be connected to the Talk Group for a QSO.
