The scheme uses the same concept as SOTA.  Parks are 'activated' when a radio operator works from within the boundaries of a recognised park and makes ten confirmed QSOs.  Chasers can be anywhere.  Different parks have different values, and logs can be submitted to the POTA scheme to claim awards.  A large ammount of software and Apps are available to assist in POTA activities, such as logging, alerts, spots, etc.
