On 11th March Jared, KE8GBF, from Michigan visited the Dundee Amateur Radio Club whilst he was in Scotland. Naturally most of the conversation was about radio, mainly the differences between UK and US operations and the various competitions. Jared also told of the trials and tribulations of travelling through Europe & Asia with radio gear, he now only carries a hand set. There were also some non radio stories such as a classic car driving experience in Paris and a rather expensive visit to a Scotch whisky distillery. The club thanked him for visiting and giving them a memorable evening and wished him all the best for the remainder of his stay and a safe journey home.

Club BBQ, Sunday 11 August 2024
The weather was kind and allowed us to have a great afternoon doing some radio and having a BBQ, with Ally on the grill. The band conditions were not quite so helpful but we still managed to get a few in the log.
SOS Event at Broughty Ferry Castle, Saturday 18 May 2024
Dundee Amateur Radio Club participated in the annual SOS event, to raise awareness of the RNLI and Coastwatch organisations, working HF, VHF and UHF from a portable station adjacent to Broughty Ferry Castle. Unfortunately the bands were in a poor state and QSOs were hard to come by. It did give an excellent opportunity to test the Mag Loop antenna built by Brendan and Andy which appeared to perform very well. A test when band conditions improve is planned. Thanks to all who took part and the next large event will be the annual Lighthouses and Lightships weekend in August.
