When using DMR Radio there are a few considerations to be taken into account, especially if you normally use VHF/UHF simplex radios.

• Some Talkgroups are dynamic and will not be heard until you briefly press the PTT to activate them.

• Always state the Talkgroup along with your callsign when putting out a call, for example: "M1ABC listening on 23550 Scotland Wide for any calls".  This will assist anyone monitoring several talkgroups to know which one the call came from.

• Always leave a couple of seconds after pressing the PTT before talking.  This is to allow the system to initialise and connect.

• Always leave three to five seconds between overs for the system to reset.

• If you initiate a QSO on a calling Talkgroup such as 2355, you should move to another Talkgroup to continue the QSO, for example Talkgroup 23550. 

• Always disconnect from a Talkgroup after use by making a Private call to Talkgroup 4000.  This is to stop accidentally linking Talkgroups.

• If the Talkgroup is very busy and you cannot disconnect, this can be done via your Devices on your Bandmeister dashboard (if using Brandmeister).
