When using DMR Radio there are a few considerations to be taken into account, especially if you normally use VHF/UHF simplex radios.
Some Talkgroups are dynamic and will not be heard until you briefly press the PTT to activate them.
Always state the Talkgroup along with your callsign when putting out a call, for example: "M1ABC listening on 23550 Scotland Wide for any calls". This will assist anyone monitoring several talkgroups to know which one the call came from.
Always leave a couple of seconds after pressing the PTT before talking. This is to allow the system to initialise and connect.
Always leave three to five seconds between overs for the system to reset.
If you initiate a QSO on a calling Talkgroup such as 2355, you should move to another Talkgroup to continue the QSO, for example Talkgroup 23550.
Always disconnect from a Talkgroup after use by making a Private call to Talkgroup 4000. This is to stop accidentally linking Talkgroups.
If the Talkgroup is very busy and you cannot disconnect, this can be done via your Devices on your Bandmeister dashboard (if using Brandmeister).
