Dundee Amateur Radio Club usually participates in the annual SOS Week. The club promotes amateur radio and operates both HF and VHF & UHF radios whilst raising awareness of the work of both the RNLI and Coastwatch.
WHAT IS SOS WEEK (MONTH) ?
SOS Radio Week is one month of fun, operating, and an opportunity for amateur radio to raise awareness the work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) and to raise much needed awareness and funds for these charities.
SOS Radio Week takes place during the month of May every year to coincide with the Royal National Lifeboat Institute’s (RNLI’s) own Mayday fund-raising event. It starts at 00:00 on the 1st May and ends at 23:59 on the 31st May. Registered SOS Radio Week Stations will be on the air at various times during the event.
WHEN AND WHERE TO FIND US
The club normally operates near Broughty Ferry Castle. We will be operating on HF, VHF and UHF and frequencies will be posted on the Dundee Amateur Radio Club Facebook Group page. We hope to hear you on the air.
MAKE A DONATION
However, one of the reasons we run this event is to raise awareness of the RNLI and NCI and if you would like to make a donation to either (or both) of these completely voluntary funded organisations simply pick your chosen charity below (and then come back and choose the other one if you like). Many thanks, every penny counts when you’re saving lives at sea.
